TOFARM 2014 photo and video contest depicts the unsung farmer heroes of Philippine Agriculture






The unsung heroism of the Filipino farmer is getting some due recognition.

The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines Search and Awards (TOFARM) launched a contest that depicts or lionizes farmers, fisherfolk and other nurturers of the soil in November 2013.

The photographs and videos will be on display at the Atrium of Resorts World Manila on March 29 and 30 after the awarding of the best photos and videos 3 p.m on Sunday March 30 at the Passion Restaurant of Resorts World Manila.

Contest categories of the TOFARM Photo and Video Contest are: DSLR Photos, Non-DSLR Photos and Videos taken with an HD camera. The entries must depicts farmers at work on the fieldm with their carabao, or just having fun. The photo and video contest may tackle all fields or sectors of farming and agriculture and may depict farmers in the fishery, livestock, and poultry raising sector as well. The contest was open to all photo and video enthusiasts nationwide as it is one of the initiatives of TOFARMS to promote the farming and agriculture sector of the Philippines as widely as possible.

Prizes at stake aree as follows:
DSLR Photos - First Prize, Php 60,000; Second Prize, Php 40,000; Third Prize, Php 30,000;
Non DSLR Photos -   First Prize, Php 40,000; Second Prize, Php 30,000; Third Prize, Php 20,000;
Video entries ( one minute long ),  First Prize, Php 60,000; Second Prize, Php 40,000; Third Prize, Php 30,000.



TOFARM is a prestigious recognition program launched by the Philippines Jaycees ( JCI Philippines) and Universal Harvester, Inc ( UHI) in 2012. Now on its third consecutive year, TOFARM in 2014 is a partnership between UHI and JCI Philippines, Mindanao Chapters of Area 5. The broad and long-term goal of TOFARM is to celebrate the important role of the farming sector in the Philippines and to inspire your people  to return to the land and make agriculture a flourishing  means livelihood.

TOFARM seeks to identify and pay atribute to outstanding farmers, fisherfolk, farm communities, cooperatives, animal raisers, women farmers, LGUs, organizations, scientist, the academe, as well as business entities in rural and urban areas. the nomination period of TOFARM 2014 begins this April.

Recently TOFARM 2014 also introduced BACKTOFARM, an agricultural rehabilitation project for farmers and farming organizations in provinces devastated by Typhoon Yolanda. The farming community in those and farming organizations in provinces are provided with farming-specific aid ad resources such as technical assistance, seeds and other ways to reinvigorate their farms and assist in the implementation of sustainable farming methods.

Bloggers’ Night: Get tagged and socialize

This 2014, the NESTEA Beach volleyball competition sizzles as the best of the best play it out to win this years title. NESTEA beach brings back the heat to Boracay
Last years NESTEA beach saw the best team from all over the country face-off in a culminating battle in the island of Boracay, after two elimination legs in Cebu and Batangas.

The women's division saw a fierce battle berween Central Philippine University (CPU) and the University of Sta. Tomas (UST), where CPU's Fiola Mae Ceballo and Jovelyn Gonzaga locked horns with UST's Maruja Banaticla and Judy Caballejo. in the end, CPU reigned supreme, winning the dicision at 22-20, 21-18

In the men's division in finals, the University of Visayas (UV) went head to head againts the University of San Jose Recoletor (USJR). UV's Jade Becaldo and Mike Abria showcased their volleyball prowess against USJR's Jade Illut and Jason Uy, winning the division at 28-26, 21-12


NESTEA Beach a sizzling summer experience
The 17th NESTEA Beach experience proves to be the biggest celebration of the season, as exciting beach activities also make their way to Boracay. Happening alongside the NESTEA Beach volleyball competition are some of the hottest parties the island has ever seen. This year, Nestea not only brings the best of the best to the beach, but also the largest parties of the weekend. To keep the summer sizzling, NESTEA, in partnership with republiq, also brings world- renowned DJs Cedric Gervais and Steve Aoki to make a splash with he labor day weekend scene.
